Do You Really Need a Teacher or Guru for Kundalini Awakening?
Watch the Video here.
For years, I’ve been asked:
Who initiated you into Kundalini?
What lineage are you from?
Why do you call yourself a master?
I understand the curiosity. In many spiritual traditions, there’s a deep reverence for teachers, gurus, and lineages. But my own Kundalini Awakening did not begin with a guru’s blessing, it began with God kicking the door wide open.
My Awakening Story
In 2015, during an Ayahuasca ceremony, I experienced a complete Kundalini Awakening. It wasn’t gradual, it was a full-blown opening all at once. Ego death. Total dismantling of everything I thought I knew. Terrifying and disorienting at the time.
Eventually, I found a teacher who helped me make sense of it. He didn’t awaken me, the energy was already alive in me but he supported me in stabilizing it so I could integrate it into my daily life. His guidance was valuable, but over time I noticed something subtle: I had started projecting my divinity onto him. I believed he had answers I didn’t.
That was the moment I knew I had to release him, reclaim my sovereignty, and trust the truth already within me.
Do You Need a Guru to Awaken?
No. Kundalini is a self-arising intelligence. It’s already in you. A true awakening doesn’t require an external activation, the energy itself will guide you. That said, a mentor can be incredibly supportive, helping your mind, body, and spirit integrate coherently.
The key is sovereignty. The right mentor mirrors your truth back to you. They don’t put themselves above you or make you dependent on them.
Red Flags to Watch For in Teachers & Lineages
-
False Hierarchy: If someone places themselves above you, subtly implying they have what you lack, it disempowers you.
-
Energetic Entanglement: Some initiations create dependency or cords between student and teacher. True guidance supports your energy awakening from within.
-
Incomplete Integration: Many facilitators haven’t fully integrated their own Kundalini process. Without this embodiment, they cannot safely guide others.
The Difference Between Embodiment and Authority
The most important thing isn’t getting “codes” from someone else, it’s anchoring the codes already within you. True mentorship supports you in remembering and embodying your own energy.
This is why I created the Kundalini Embodiment Method, which is a sovereign, trauma-informed path to energetic mastery. It’s about walking yourself through the fire, integrating deeply, and becoming a stable steward of your own power.
Your Awakening is Sacred
Your Kundalini journey belongs to you. No one can own it. No one can give it to you. You are your best teacher.
If you want to explore this path further, I invite you to access my free Kundalini Mastery Starter Kit, a bundle of resources, tools, and a directory of trained, sovereign facilitators who understand how to hold this work with safety and integrity.
