The Dangers of Kundalini Awakening (and How to Stay Safe)

Watch the Video here.

Kundalini awakening is one of the most profound thresholds a human being can cross. It can open you to deep truth, higher states of consciousness, and a direct connection with the divine. But if it’s approached recklessly, it can also destabilize your nervous system, confuse your mind, and pull you out of your body.

I know this because my own awakening happened suddenly on ayahuasca in 2015. It was the most terrifying experience of my life... full ego death, all channels blown open, and no idea how to live as a human afterward. It took me years to stabilize, integrate, and feel safe with the energy again.

That’s why I want to share the nine most common dangers of Kundalini awakening. Not to instill fear  but to give you awareness, so you can walk this path with integrity and safety.

1. Nervous System Overload

When Kundalini rushes through too quickly, it can overwhelm your body. Insomnia, anxiety, and panic attacks are common. This isn’t the energy being “wrong,” it’s your system not ready to hold it yet. Grounding practices and pacing are essential.

2. Heightened Sensitivity

After awakening, your energy field can feel porous. Lights, sounds, and emotions hit harder than before. Until your field stabilizes, be discerning with the environments and people you surround yourself with.

3. Trauma Rising

Kundalini brings everything that’s stuck to the surface — including old trauma. Without tools to process and release, this can feel terrifying. The key is not to resist or identify with the story, but to let the energy move through.

4. Spiritual Bypass & Ego Inflation

Some cope by escaping into “love and light” and bypassing the body. Others inflate, feeling chosen or superior. Both are distortions. True embodiment keeps you humble, grounded, and real.

5. Isolation & Breakdown

Awakening can shatter old identities, leaving you feeling misunderstood or alone. Without community and guidance, it may spiral into existential crisis. Finding support is crucial.

6. Externalizing Power

In some activation spaces, facilitators “put” energy into you. This creates unhealthy dependence and opens the door for energetic entanglement. Your Kundalini is within you. No one can give it to you.

7. False Light & Entities

Not all that feels blissful is clean. False light beings can create euphoria while feeding on confusion. Sovereignty means learning to discern, hold clear boundaries, and stay rooted in truth.

8. Unqualified Trainings

A five-day certificate does not make someone ready to hold Kundalini. Integration, trauma resolution, and embodied mastery take years. Choose facilitators who have walked the path deeply themselves.

9. Bliss Addiction

Bliss states can be intoxicating. But Kundalini is not here to take you out of the human experience. It’s here to root you deeper into it, where joy and divinity are lived, not escaped into.

The Safe Path: Activation, Integration, Mastery

Awakening is sacred. It unfolds in three stages:

  • Activation: the initial opening.

  • Integration: learning to stabilize, heal, and embody.

  • Mastery: coherence, sovereignty, and living truth.

When you honor this process, Kundalini isn’t just a peak experience. It becomes the foundation for a more aligned, embodied, and fulfilling life.
