The Truth About Cord Cutting (Understanding the Deeper Energetics)

Most people think of cord cutting as a quick spiritual fix, a ritual to detach from someone or something that no longer feels aligned.

Yet so many people cut cords… only to have the person, the pattern, or the emotional entanglement come right back.

There’s a reason for that, and the ritual isn’t the issue. The depth is.

In this article, I’m sharing why cord cutting doesn’t actually work, what cords really are, and how true cord clearing restores your sovereignty, clarity, and truth.

What Cords Really Are

 Energetic cords are invisible threads of connection between you and:

• people

• places

• past experiences

• entities

• unresolved karmic or ancestral patterns

They don’t simply float between two people.

They attach through wounds, porous places, emotional imprints, or unintegrated trauma.

This is why a simple “cutting ritual” doesn’t hold.

Unless you address the hook, the place in you that allowed the cord in, the connection reforms itself.

Why Cord Cutting Doesn’t Work

Most cord cutting rituals focus on severing the surface connection.

But cords anchor into:

• trauma

• unmet needs

• fear-based patterns

• karmic distortions

• unconscious emotional bonds

If those deeper layers stay untouched, the cord simply reattaches.

And often, you’ll feel the person’s energy return immediately.

This is why real cord work isn’t about cutting.

It’s about clearing.

What Cord Clearing Actually Does

A true cord clearing addresses the root distortion, aka the wound that allowed the energy in.

When a cord is cleared from its origin:

• your field opens

• your clarity returns

• the manipulation dissolves

• your energy stops leaking

• you feel like yourself again

It’s common to feel a sudden shift, like waking up from fog because your field is no longer being influenced by someone else’s emotions, beliefs, or desires.

Sovereign Cords vs. Codependent Cords

Not all cords are the same.

Sovereign Cords

 These are clean, undistorted connections rooted in:

• love

• truth

• mutual respect

• free will

They feel like a straight line of presence between two beings.

Codependent Cords

 These are bonded through:

• fear

• trauma

• control

• unmet needs

• spiritual or emotional enmeshment

They distort perception and create emotional dependency, power imbalance, and energetic confusion.

Cord clearing isn’t about removing love... it’s about removing distortion.

Where Cords Attach (and What That Reveals)

 Cords attach through different chakras depending on the dynamic:

• Root – safety, belonging

• Sacral – sexuality, romance, emotional entanglement

• Solar Plexus – power, validation, control

• Heart – love, emotional dependency

• Throat – visibility, truth, expression

• Third Eye – perception, mental influence, hypervigilance

• Crown – authority, spiritual control, giving power away

Where the cord attaches tells you exactly which part of you wasn’t rooted in sovereignty.

What Happens During a Real Cord Clearing

Clearing a cord at the root is deep trauma work.

You may experience:

• tears

• laughter

• shaking

• heat

• rage

• bliss

• physical detox symptoms (headaches, grogginess, brain fog)

This is your system releasing what was never yours.

After clearing, the field must be sealed so nothing can re-enter the wound.

This is where sovereignty becomes embodied.

Why Cord Clearing Matters

 When your field is clean:

• you can’t be manipulated

• you stop unconsciously manipulating others

• your truth becomes unmistakable

• your decisions become clear

• your relationships become healthier

• your energy returns to you

You move through life with a coherence that influences others into more love, free will, and authenticity.

This is energetic sovereignty.
